TL;DR
We do not collect any personal data ourselves. Everything related to your usage of Alif Alphabet stays on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking inside the app.
The only situation in which any data leaves your device is if you voluntarily choose to send us a tip through the in-app purchase flow. In that case the payment is processed by your platform’s billing system (Google Play or, in the future, Apple App Store) and by RevenueCat as our purchase orchestration service. Details below.
Data we collect
We, the developer, do not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier
- Your precise or approximate location
- Device identifiers (IDFA, Android Advertising ID, etc.)
- Usage analytics, telemetry, or behavioural data
- Any other personally identifiable information
Data stored locally on your device
The app stores the following on your device only — in browser
localStorage and, on mobile, in the platform’s app preferences
(SharedPreferences on Android, NSUserDefaults on iOS):
- Your selected interface language (English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian).
- Game statistics: counts of correct and incorrect answers per letter, used to make the recognition game adaptive.
- Current position in Learn mode (which letter or group you are on), so it is preserved between sessions.
This data never leaves your device to our servers. We do not have access to it. On Android, your device’s standard backup mechanism (Google Auto Backup) may include this data in your Google account backup if backups are enabled in your device settings — this is controlled by you and Google, not by us.
You can clear this data at any time by uninstalling the app.
In-app purchases (tips)
Alif Alphabet is free to use. As of v1, the app offers optional one-time tips through the platform’s standard in-app purchase mechanism. If you choose to tip, the following happens:
- The actual payment is processed by Google Play Billing (on Android) or, when iOS support ships, Apple In-App Purchase. Your payment method is managed by Google or Apple, not by us. We never see your card details or full billing information.
- We use RevenueCat as our purchase orchestration provider. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly-generated user identifier and the details of the transaction (which tip tier was purchased, when, and whether it succeeded), so that we can correctly grant the receipt and reconcile our records. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, address, or device identifiers from us.
- Google Play, Apple, and RevenueCat each have their own privacy
policies that govern how they handle this transaction data:
- Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- RevenueCat: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/
If you never tap a tip option, no transaction data is generated and nothing leaves your device.
Third-party services inside the app
Alif Alphabet does not embed any analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or behavioural trackers.
The third-party software components used inside the app are limited to:
- Capacitor plugins by Ionic — used only to access local platform features (haptics, status bar styling, preferences storage, screen orientation, splash screen). They do not transmit data to Ionic or to us.
- RevenueCat SDK — used only when you initiate a tip purchase, as described above.
The app may contain external links that, when tapped, open in your device’s browser (for example, links to our website or our support email). Opening those external links is governed by the privacy practices of those destinations and your browser, not by this policy.
App store platforms
Google Play and the Apple App Store may collect their own data about app installs, crashes, ratings, and store interactions when you download or use Alif Alphabet. This data is governed by Google’s and Apple’s respective privacy policies. As the developer, we may see aggregate, anonymised statistics through the Play Console or App Store Connect (such as install counts and crash rates), but we do not access individual user-level data from these platforms.
Children’s privacy
Alif Alphabet is not designed for or directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has used the app in a way that requires our attention, please contact us at the address below.
The app contains no advertisements and no behavioural tracking. Optional in-app tips require the standard platform payment flow, which is gated by parental controls on the device.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data, there is generally no data held by us that is subject to access, correction, or erasure requests under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws. If you believe we hold any data about you that should be removed, please contact us and we will investigate and respond.
For transaction data processed by RevenueCat, Google Play, or Apple, please refer to their respective privacy policies and support channels for data subject requests.
Changes to this policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Substantive changes will be communicated through the app or on this page.
